Equipment

  • baking tray
  • skillet
  • mixing bowl
  • basting brush
  • knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 8 slices Cajun-style turkey breast
  • 6 slices beef or turkey bacon
  • 4 slices pepper jack cheese
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp hot honey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the French bread lengthwise. In a small bowl mix melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and Cajun seasoning, then brush the mixture over both sides of the bread.
  • Place the bread halves on a baking tray and toast in the oven for about 5 minutes until lightly crisp.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and warm the Cajun turkey slices for 1–2 minutes to enhance flavor.
  • Layer the warmed turkey over the bottom bread half and add crispy bacon. Place pepper jack and mozzarella slices on top, then return to the oven for 5–7 minutes until the cheese melts.
  • Remove from the oven and add shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and thinly sliced red onion for freshness and crunch.
  • Drizzle hot honey over the vegetables to give the sandwich a sweet and spicy finish.
  • Place the top half of the bread over the fillings, press gently, slice into portions, and serve warm.

Notes

For less heat, replace pepper jack with mozzarella or provolone and use regular honey instead of hot honey. You can substitute smoked chicken or plant-based deli slices for the Cajun turkey. French bread works best for a crisp exterior, but ciabatta or sourdough are also great options.
