Equipment

  • large mixing bowl
  • baking sheet lined with foil
  • wire rack for crispier wings
  • small saucepan
  • whisk
  • oven-safe dish for cheesy fries

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings (split, tips removed)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2–3 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • sliced green onions (for garnish)
  • 1 1/2 pounds frozen or fresh-cut fries
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt or ranch dressing
  • fresh parsley (optional garnish)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine garlic, ginger, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, and sriracha. Mix well. Add the chicken wings and toss until evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes to allow the flavors to absorb.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top. Arrange wings in a single layer. Bake for 35–45 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and cooked through to 165°F (74°C).
  • Pour leftover marinade into a small saucepan and bring to a gentle boil over medium heat. Mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry, then stir into the saucepan. Simmer 2–3 minutes until thick and glossy.
  • Brush or toss baked wings in the thickened glaze. Return to the oven for 5 minutes to set the coating. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
  • Cook fries according to package instructions until crispy. Transfer to an oven-safe dish, top with cheddar and mozzarella, and bake 5–7 minutes until melted. Finish with green onions, diced tomatoes, and a drizzle of Greek yogurt or ranch. Serve immediately with wings.

Notes

Adjust the heat by increasing or reducing the sriracha. For gluten-free needs, use tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce. Maple syrup can replace honey for deeper sweetness. Monterey Jack or Colby are great cheese alternatives. For a lighter version, use sweet potato fries, light cheese, and Greek yogurt instead of ranch. Freeze unglazed baked wings for up to 3 months and glaze after reheating.
