Equipment

  • large pot for boiling noodles
  • large skillet for cooking shrimp and sauce
  • wooden spoon for stirring and deglazing
  • colander for draining noodles
  • knife and cutting board for chopping garlic and parsley

Ingredients

  • 12 oz ramen, spaghetti, or your favorite noodles
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  • Boil the noodles according to the package instructions. Drain well and set aside. Toss with a little olive oil if desired to prevent sticking.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter with the olive oil. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  • Add the shrimp to the skillet and season with salt and black pepper. Cook for about 2–3 minutes per side until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  • Pour the chicken or vegetable broth and lemon juice into the skillet. Use a wooden spoon to scrape up any flavorful bits from the bottom of the pan. Simmer for 1–2 minutes until slightly reduced.
  • Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss well so they absorb the garlic butter sauce evenly.
  • Return the shrimp to the pan and gently toss everything together until the shrimp are warmed through.
  • Serve immediately topped with chopped parsley and optional grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

Avoid overcooking the shrimp—2–3 minutes per side is usually perfect. Use fresh garlic for the best flavor and deglaze the skillet well to capture all the delicious bits for the sauce. For variations, add heavy cream for a creamy version, soy sauce and sesame oil for an Asian-inspired twist, or increase red pepper flakes for more heat. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheat gently with a splash of broth.
