Equipment

  • grill pan or skillet for cooking steak and shrimp
  • wok or large skillet for fried rice
  • spatula
  • knife for slicing steak
  • mixing bowl for eggs

Ingredients

  • 1 ribeye steak (about 300g)
  • salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 200 g shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup peas and carrots mix
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp green onions, chopped

Instructions

  • Season the ribeye steak with salt and black pepper on both sides. Heat a grill pan or skillet over high heat and add olive oil. Sear the steak 3–4 minutes per side. In the last minute, add butter and garlic on top. Remove steak and let rest 5–10 minutes.
  • Season shrimp with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook in the same pan or separate grill pan for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and slightly charred. Set aside.
  • Heat a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Scramble eggs until just set, then remove. Sauté peas and carrots for 2–3 minutes. Add cooked rice and stir-fry, breaking up clumps. Add soy sauce and sesame oil, then return eggs and stir. Finish with green onions.
  • Slice the rested steak. Plate fried rice with shrimp on the side and arrange steak slices alongside. Serve hot, adding extra butter on the steak if desired.

Notes

Use day-old rice for the best fried rice texture. Rest the steak after cooking to keep it juicy. Adjust seasonings to taste and use tamari for a gluten-free option. Customize with vegetables or spices to your preference.
