Equipment

  • large skillet or grill pan
  • cutting board
  • chef’s knife
  • deep frying pan or fryer
  • mixing bowl
  • slotted spoon
  • paper towels

Ingredients

  • 2 beef ribeye or sirloin steaks
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 4 large potatoes
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 head romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup croutons
  • 1/4 cup Caesar dressing
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

  • Remove the steaks from the refrigerator about 20 minutes before cooking so they can reach room temperature. Pat them dry with paper towels to help create a better sear.
  • Rub the steaks with olive oil, then season both sides evenly with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • Place a heavy skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and allow it to heat until very hot.
  • Add the seasoned steaks to the hot pan and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on the first side without moving them.
  • Flip the steaks and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes for medium doneness, adjusting the time depending on thickness and desired doneness.
  • Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest on a plate or cutting board for about 5 minutes so the juices redistribute.
  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into evenly sized fries to ensure they cook evenly.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to about 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the potatoes in batches for 5 to 6 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the fries with a slotted spoon, drain on paper towels, and immediately season with salt and black pepper.
  • In a large bowl combine chopped romaine lettuce, croutons, and grated Parmesan cheese. Add Caesar dressing and lemon juice, then toss gently to coat.
  • Slice the rested steak against the grain. Arrange the steak on a plate with crispy fries and serve the Caesar salad on the side. Garnish the steak with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For best results, allow the steak to reach room temperature before cooking and always rest it after cooking to keep it juicy. Russet potatoes create the crispiest fries. You can bake or air fry the fries for a lighter option. Add garlic butter to the steak or toss the fries with herbs like rosemary or thyme for extra flavor.
