Equipment

  • large skillet
  • wooden spoon or spatula
  • knife
  • cutting board
  • measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups pasta (rotini, penne, or elbow macaroni)
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup honey BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced steak in a single layer and sear for 3–4 minutes per side until browned. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, sprinkle smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir for 30 seconds to toast the spices and release their aroma.
  • Add the pasta, beef broth, and honey BBQ sauce to the skillet. Stir to combine and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cover. Let simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and the sauce thickens.
  • Return the seared steak to the pan. Sprinkle in shredded cheddar cheese and stir until fully melted, coating the pasta in a creamy, cheesy sauce.
  • Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the pasta for a pop of color and freshness. Serve warm.

Notes

Slice the steak thinly for best tenderness and avoid overcrowding the pan when searing. Stir pasta occasionally to prevent sticking. Adjust sweetness with extra honey if desired. For extra creaminess, add a splash of cream or a spoonful of cream cheese at the end. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
