Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot coffee
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate, chopped (for glaze)
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream (for glaze)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease three 8-inch cake pans.
  • Sift together flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Mix eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Gradually mix wet and dry ingredients, then stir in hot coffee until glossy.
  • Divide batter into pans and bake 25–30 minutes until toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  • Heat cream for filling until simmering. Pour over chocolate chips and butter. Let sit 2 min and stir until smooth.
  • Beat butter for frosting until creamy. Add powdered sugar and cocoa, then milk, vanilla, and salt until fluffy.
  • Place first cake layer, spread filling. Repeat with second layer, add final layer, then frost entire cake.
  • Heat cream for glaze, pour over chopped chocolate and stir until smooth. Drizzle over cake and optionally pipe decorations.

Notes

Use room-temperature ingredients for smoother batter and frosting. Do not overmix cake batter to avoid dense layers. Hot coffee enhances chocolate flavor. Cool cakes completely before frosting. Chill before slicing for cleaner cuts.
