Ingredients
  

  • 200 g all-purpose flour
  • 100 g cold butter, cubed
  • 0.25 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp cold water
  • 0.75 cup sugar
  • 0.5 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest
  • 100 g butter, melted
  • fresh cherries for garnish
  • thin lemon slices for garnish
  • edible gold leaf (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Mix flour and powdered sugar, rub in cold butter until crumbly. Add egg yolk and cold water, form dough, press into tart pan, prick base, bake 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Whisk eggs, sugar, lemon juice, and zest until smooth. Stir in melted butter until incorporated.
  • Pour filling into pre-baked crust and bake 20–25 minutes until just set.
  • Cool completely, refrigerate at least 1 hour, then garnish with cherries, lemon slices, and optional gold leaf. Slice and serve chilled.

Notes

Use cold butter for a flaky crust. Fresh lemons provide the best flavor. Chill tart before slicing to set the filling. Gold leaf is optional for decoration.
