Equipment

  • skillet
  • mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • spatula

Ingredients

  • 6 slices thick-cut brioche or challah bread
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp butter (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 1/2 cup fresh raspberries
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 cup fresh blackberries
  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream (dairy or plant-based)
  • powdered sugar, for dusting
  • maple syrup, for drizzling

Instructions

  • Whisk eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a medium bowl to make the custard.
  • Dip each bread slice lightly into the custard, coating both sides but avoiding oversoaking.
  • Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook custard-coated bread slices for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Stack the cooked slices on a serving plate to create a tall tower.
  • Top the stack with vanilla ice cream and fresh berries. Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup.

Notes

Use slightly stale bread for better custard absorption. Serve immediately for best texture. Dairy-free or vegan substitutions are possible for milk, butter, and ice cream.
